Ben Ainslie is on the shortlist to win the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year.
Southampton’s Dee Caffari is also a finalist for the female International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Rolex World Sailor of the Year award.
Victory this year would make it the fourth time that Lymington-based Ainslie, a three-time Olympic champion, would walk away with the top award. He was named World Sailor of the Year in 2008, 2002 and 1998.
Ainslie heads a five-strong men's shortlist after a season in which he became the Match Racing World champion & ISAF Sailing World Cup champion.
This year Caffari, 38, became the first woman to have sailed non-stop around the world three times when she completed the Barcelona World Race with Spanish co-skipper Anna Corbella.
The winners will be announced at the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards in Puerto Rico on November 8.
