Saints fans are being given a unique opportunity to quiz one of the men that runs their club.

Football board chairman Michael Wilde has agreed to answer questions submitted to the Daily Echo in a special Ask the Chairman' feature that will run on Thursday, September 4.

It means that Saints fans who may often feel frustrated that their points and questions will never get a response have a chance to get explanations and answers from those who make the big decisions.

There are no topics off limit, though PLC rules mean there may be some details which cannot be released.

We are looking for a cross section of questions so whether you want to ask about matters on the pitch, the manager, the transfer policy, ticketing, merchandise, the food at the ground, the state of the toilets, general football trends or anything else football or Saints related then get in touch.

Wilde said: "The rationale for doing this is to allow greater access to the current board.

"Although we've got established means of communication with supporters like the official website they are very much news based but this Ask the Chairman' column will allow a more fluid and flexible dialogue.

"Even a fan's forum can be restrictive but what we are talking about here is open to allow a frank interchange of views between supporters and the club.

"We won't get into politics or confidential details but we can keep supporters informed.

"Hopefully it will prove a means to get information you might not otherwise hear about.

"I also hope supporters will ask about a range of topics to do with the club because the little things that people would like to see improved do matter as well obviously as the bigger things."

The Echo will select a variety of different questions to put to Wilde and will print his responses in full.

If the feature proves popular then it may be that it can be repeated again over the course of the season but for the time being this is a one off and a very rare chance to ask the questions you want answered.

We are expecting an overwhelming response so would ask that each correspondent only puts forward one question.

To ask your question either e-mail adam.leitch@dailyecho.co.uk or write to Ask the Chairman, Sportsdesk, Newspaper House, Test Lane, Redbridge, Southampton, SO16 9JX. Please include your name on all questions and address if writing even if you would like this withheld.
