Loosely based around facts

LOOSE Women is Britain’s best factual programme.

Really? Is this tosh seriously the best TV this country can offer?

I beg to differ.

Last time I had the misfortune to tune in to the show many years ago, the women were in deep discussion over what sort of knickers they would be, should they be a pair of knickers.

In other classic episodes, Robbie Williams was grilled on – his favourite holiday destination and the presenters cackled for at least half an hour because Coleen Nolan accidentally said a rude word.

Broadcasting at its best then.

I can’t quite believe the British public voted for this show, which they describe as a laughter filled lunchtime but I would describe as 60 minutes of inane shrieking, to scoop a prize at this week’s National Television Awards, which was otherwise an excellent showcase for British success.

Loose Women beat The Apprentice, Come Dine With Me and even Top Gear, voted the best TV show of the decade in another poll.

OK so daytime TV is not known for its innovation. But giving the Loose Women an award of this kind is really scraping the barrel.

The makers of all the wealth of factual programming on British television, like the quite spectacular Life nature series on our screens recently, must have their head in their hands wondering what the hell went wrong.

I agree, the programme is a load of tosh. Can't stand that Coleen and Carol with their irritating voices. TV at its worst.

The programme is Utter garbage. Top Gear, The Apprentice and Come Dine With Me are all far superior programmes!

I thought I was the only one that thought this. Thank God.

They remind me of a group of geese or turkeys all clucking about to each other in a farm yard.

A couple of the presenters (for want of a better word) could actually do a lot better than this. Obviously all their careers are on the decline to have to stoop so low.
