THE latest crop of Dancing on Ice contestants are getting their skates on this weekend – and I’m struggling with divided loyalties.
Hampshire’s Friends Provident T20 title winning captain Dominic Cork is among the line-up.
Cork and co. have provided my friends and I with some of our favourite days out and greatest sporting moments, not least the decisive contribution he made by taking two wickets in the final over of a dramatic day at the Rose Bowl last summer.
Cork has confessed that he will be in for a ribbing from his cricketing chums for wearing pink Lycra during the show, as it is renowned for its tight-fitting sequinned numbers.
But another of the county’s regular visitors will have no such qualms about donning the most flamboyant of outfits.
Former Neighbours actor Craig McLachlan has been a regular at The Mayflower in my years as entertainments editor – and is probably my favourite ever interviewee.
He’s great fun, deliciously naughty and could charm the birds out of the trees.
Both excel in different sports, are fit, popular and could prove good bets as long as they have managed to master the more technical elements of skating.
I think I’ll just hedge my bets for the time being and order up both Team Craig and Team Corky T-shirts.
I suppose I’ll know soon enough whether to burst into an impromptu cry of ‘Aaaaaaaaampshire or go retro with Hey Mona.
