Never a dull moment

WELL I’ll certainly never forget where I was during the Rupert Murdoch attack this week.

Although thoroughly entertaining, it can hardly be classified as one of those JFK/Princess Diana ‘I remember where I was’ moments.

But for me, it was more the nature of the location that will stick in my mind for years to come.

I looked up from my notepad while chatting with a slightly grumpy Les Dennis in his dressing room backstage in Dublin’s beautiful new Grand Canal Theatre just as a protester prepared to launch his homemade custard pie.

It definitely put me off my next line of questioning and I’ve certainly had less strange days at the office, but all in a day’s work I suppose.

I flew to Ireland for 24 hours this week with members of The Mayflower marketing team and Wave 105’s Shireen Jordan to attend the world premiere of Peter Pan, set to be Southampton’s big festive show this Christmas.

Having been given a sneak preview, I can promise audiences some very impressive flying sequences, spectacular sets and a little fairy magic courtesy of Tinkerbell.

But best of all a very handsome Captain Hook – Footballers Wives and The Bill star Ben Richards – who looks rather dashing in and out of his Johnny Deppesque pirate clobber. I’d say he’s probably even better in very little as we were lucky enough to find out as we burst into his dressing room for a photo, before skulking away horrified at our faux pas.

If that didn’t make me forget the weird combination of a former Family Fortunes host, an anarchist comic and the billionaire owner of News Corporation, then nothing will.
