10-year-old Ariel Yanne swept the prestigious Alban Rees-Jones trophy at the Southampton Competitive Music Festival.
The young pianist, who played a piece by Grieg, wowed audiences at Thornden Hall in Chandler's Ford. The trophy, presented by Southampton Choral Society, commemorates their late accompanist and supports budding musicians.
Ariel, a Grade VIII exam passer and a Diploma student who lives in Poole, dreams of becoming a concert pianist. She's also a science enthusiast and enjoys swimming.
