Emergency repairs have been completed on the M27 after a closure caused four miles of congestion.

National Highways closed two of three lanes eastbound at junction seven for Hedge End just after 1pm yesterday.

Delays were around 20 minutes at the time with four miles of congestion but this rose to 50 minutes due to rush hour traffic.

Work continued into the early hours of the morning and was completed at around 5am.

Motorists were told to allow extra time for their journeys during the work with vehicles diverted via the entry and exit slip roads.
