A WOMAN told jurors a former Hampshire rugby club captain raped her while pinning her face-down on her bed.

She described how things went too far with former police officer David Ewen after they had enjoyed passionate kissing and cuddling. She ended up having to go to hospital.

The woman, who lives in New Milton, told Southampton Crown Court she met Ewen in a bar after he had been playing for New Milton RFC.

After an evening out, they went back to her home. Because she was driving, she only had a couple of drinks but he had consumed “quite a bit,” starting after the match.

“We went upstairs, got into bed,” she said.

“We had kissing and cuddling.

It was normal man/woman. It went from passionate kissing to being flipped over.”

The woman then described how she began to feel “uncomfortable”

as she lay face-down.

“He became quite frantic, forceful and aggressive and it quickly progressed to something I worried about.

“I remember swearing and saying ‘no’. I was squirming. I didn’t enjoy it.

“He held me down with his hand around my head and neck.”

The woman said that what Ewen did was extremely painful and was something they had never done before.

“I reached the point when I gave up and let it happen.”

Afterwards, she curled up and went to sleep but the following morning she felt in agony.

“I told him ‘you have really hurt me,’ but I don’t think there was a great deal of concern from his point of view.”

The following day, however, she was in so much pain she went to hospital where she was prescribed painkillers after telling a nurse she had fallen against a wall.

Ewen, of Brownsea Close, New Milton, denies rape and indecent assault.
